Research and Evaluation Analyst
The Research and Evaluation Analyst's role is to support JAWA's mission and goals by conducting a wide range of research and evaluation activities. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Impact and Innovation, the R&E Analyst collects and contributes data for strategic decisions about programs, processes, and funding. This position contributes to the generation of evidence to help JA of Washington tell its story of student impact and reach. This is a full time, non-exempt position in the JAWA Auburn Education Center with hybrid remote work flexibility.
Impact
The Research and Evaluation Analyst's role is to support JAWA's mission and goals by conducting a wide range of research and evaluation activities. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Impact and Innovation, the R&E Analyst collects and contributes data for strategic decisions about programs, processes, and funding. This position contributes to the generation of evidence to help JA of Washington tell its story of student impact and reach. This hybrid, full-time, non-exempt position reports to the VP of Impact and Innovation and is based at the JAWA Education Center located in Auburn, WA, with flexibility to work remotely.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as JAWA’s Data and Evaluation Expert:
- Develop and drive JAWA’s data and evaluation strategies in collaboration with the VP of Impact & Innovation.
- Report on data and devaluation work and progress towards strategic Plan goals.
- Support JAWA staff with understanding and utilizing data effectively.
- Support strategic partnerships designed to increase JAWA’s capacity and ability to utilize data and evaluation processes.
Research:
- Design and lead research projects to assess JAWA’s impact and delivery on mission and understand a variety of factors impacting JAWA’s programming, including, student, volunteer, and educator experiences; short-, medium-, and long-term student outcomes; student and volunteer demographics; effectiveness of various programming approaches, delivery models, and pilots.
- Conduct background research and literature reviews pertaining to financial literacy among youth and adults, work and career trends, and other topics of interest to JAWA.
- Provide summaries of reports and evaluations produced by JA USA
Data Management:
- Gain proficiency in JA’s platforms to comfortably provide reports on program-related metrics to help with decision-making and accountability.
- Ensure that external data in JA’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is updated annually, such as school and student demographics.
- Run data quality audits on program-related data.
- Help with data entry as needed.
Evaluation:
- Create and/or update tools to capture demographic data on volunteers and students.
- Develop data collection tools (such as survey instruments, focus group discussion guides, in-depth interview guides, observation guides) for programs identified for evaluation.
- Collect, manage, organize, and clean primary data.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
- Contribute to reports, data visualizations, and presentations.
- Develop user-friendly analytic tools that empowers the team to use and integrate data into their program management and implementation.
- Support and participate in meetings and workshops to discuss findings and implications.
Qualifications (required)
- Experience required in social sciences, statistics, evaluation, or related field
- At least three years of experience in evaluation and/or social science research
- Demonstrated expertise in collecting, analyzing, managing, and making meaning of quantitative and qualitative data
- Proficiency using MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
- Skilled in use of online data collection tools (Survey Monkey, Qualtrics, Google Forms etc.)
- Ability to present information in a way that is accessible and easily understood by users
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with databases and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
